Trying to get my creative mojo back, so I'm just throwing ideas out.

Effectively tugged on, eventually divided between Netherlands, Britain, Greece and Sweden, and later becoming independent as the United Commonwealth of Hibrasil, Republic of New Songhai and the Republic of Herculea, which has a prominent Jewish minority (to the point where it was, and still is, considered a solution for the Jewish Question), these three little states are all almost entirely part of the American sphere, while not as rich as their European counterparts. The Basque minority in Hibrasil is still very prominent and nationalistic, and wants independence as well as independence for its homeland on the Iberian peninsula."
