Flag of a United Korea by CyberPhoenix001 Flag of a United Korea by CyberPhoenix001
This is my idea for a flag of a united Republic of Korea, as I really don't think the existing one of a blue Korean Peninsular on a white background would really cut it as an official flag.

The blue stripes represent friendship and the white represents peace. The emblem at the centre is actually the existing emblem of South Korea, but the Korean lettering actually says "The Republic of Korea" and the taeguk at the centre surrounded by Korea's national flower could all be applied to a pan-Korean nation.

Would you mind if I used this as part of my character's history? She's part of a futuristic Stargate team and I am writing in a unified Korea =]

I'm S.Korean but I dislike that Suprime supreme ultimate at the very center of that flag.

Anyway, it is still nice work.

Very nice design...We have supported and will support every time for United Korea idea, because of our Turanian brothers and sisters. No war between Turanians...

Actually, according to all the sources I've checked, "Daehan Minguk" literally translates from Hangul as "The Republic of Korea", which only refers to and is the current title of South Korea in present usage. However, I see no reason why, in the event of a pan-Korean unification, the title could not be reused to apply to the resultant nation.

Regarding the name though, there is an option for the united Korea to have a name that is neutral and distinct from its two predecessors. DPRK used Choson. ROK used Dae Han (which means Great Han). The new republic could use Goryeo. The three names have been used throughout Korean history, and the English word Korea is a transliteration of Goryeo anyway. Does its job well I'd say.

This would be the perfect flag for a united Korea.....once the crazy loons in charge of North Korea are gone and the long process of reunification can happen. This is a good design!

This could be a reality if North Korea would ever grow some balls and attack.

Oh, please. There is no way that North Korea could ever successfully annex South Korea. Sure they have a huge military, but the vast majority of that army uses outdated Soviet tech and logistics, and I am given to believe that a large amount of their troops are malnourished. South Korea, on the other hand, has a well-fed, well-stocked, well-armed military, the backing of the US, as well as twice the population of North Korea.

There is also no way that North Korea could ever enforce its laws within the south. People who defect from North Korea do not defect back. Instead, they recognise that their regime has been lying to them from the beginning, and that North Korea is not the pinnacle of civilisation that the Dear Leader claimed it was, but is instead a complete shithole with a horrible human rights record. The South Koreans are well aware of the North's lies and propaganda, and would not buy any of it for one microsecond.

Granted, they probably would be able to devastate Seoul, which would screw up the world's economy and piss off every nation on Earth, but that pales in the face of the simple fact that they are a backwards nation, despised by all (even China resents them). No, if anything, an attack would hasten North Korea's demise.

I know N. Korea would lose ultimately. I'm just saying if they would hurry up and commit sucide.

Ah, well. Suffice to say that your original comment did not give off that impression.

Myself, I'd rather that Korea be united in a process that didn't involve millions of pointless deaths, but that's just me.

Their is.

Offer a peace treaty. Terms:

1. Un and the North Korean Workers Party surrender and re-unify with South Korea.
2. Un, party leaders and military leaders leave the country (China could have'um) into perminent exile, family as well.

Then, the sanctions lifted, the North revives whatever needed.

Of course, bring this to the UN and have everyone vote on it and have everyone help in some capacity with the reconstruction. If rejected, then sanctions continue. He attacks the South (the US or ANY country for that matter) then he gets his war.

Capitalist/Democracy. Note the distinct lack of red (apart from the taeguk) that is generally so prominent in flags of communist nations.
