Description
The flag of a Philippines which, after an independence won without US assistance (the Maine sailed without incident, and a Spanish-American War never eventuated) became much more heavily militarised and nationalistic, and moved to spread the revolutionary spirit to other European colonies in the Far East. Today, the Indonesian archipelago, a substantial number of Pacific islands, and some of southeast Asia lies in the Philippines' orbit, and they are currently preparing to land their first man on the Moon.
I may expand on this premise sometime in the future (with a little less silliness), but for now, this. Enjoy!
P.S. The "Empire" in the title is more an informal thing; there is no "Emperor" as such.

It would have been far better if the Philippines got freedom gradually. Like say, the Spanish send a member of their royal family over, and that person gets hitched with the child of a tribal chieftain. The bishops then anoint the child from such a union as the "Princeps" of the Philippines, and the royal family of Spain recognize their descendant's autonomy in exchange for a military alliance. That's one out of two stories I have for a Philippine empire.
